BOB SCHOULTZ

LEADERSHIP IN A HIGH RISK ENVIRONMENT

Bob Schoultz attended Stanford University on a Navy scholarship, graduating with a BA in Philosophy in December 1974. He was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy and graduated from basic SEAL training in the summer of 1975. He subsequently had a thirty year career as a Navy SEAL officer, serving in a wide variety of assignments, many overseas, culminating in commanding all the SEAL Teams on the East Coast. He retired from the Navy as a Captain on 1 July, 2005.

After leaving the Navy he served as the Director of the Master of Science in Global (Business) Leadership program at the University of San Diego for six years and as an adjunct professor, taught Business Ethics and Business Communications in that program for a total of 12 years. Additionally, he has been an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School, directed a program in professional development for the Navy, currently (as of 2021) leads a Mental Performance Working Group, leads the national organization Old Frogs and SEALs, and leads several reading groups. His hobbies include golf, playing Celtic music on the fiddle, and cycling.

He and his wife Mary Anne have been married for 42 years and reside in Imperial Beach California. Their oldest son is a SEAL officer currently commanding a SEAL/Special Boat Team; their second son is a musician in Shreveport, La, and their daughter is a mountaineering/winter camping instructor and expedition leader in Idaho and Alaska.
